Northwestern University’s Blackboard Mag allows Cory Booker to reintroduce himself with this list of five under-the-radar facts about his life. Here’s number two:

In 1998, Booker won an upset victory for a seat on the Municipal Council of Newark, defeating four-term incumbent George Branch. While a member of the council, he went on a 10-day hunger strike and lived in a tent to draw attention to Newark’s drug problems.

That sounds like the tenacity we need from our next president.
